Our Story

Since 1996, Hospice Klang has been serving the community with compassion and dedication. We are an independent NGO with no political, religious or special interest affiliations. We are open to all and guided only by compassion, respect and dignity.

Our Care Philosophy

Palliative care at Hospice Klang goes beyond medical needs. It embraces the physical, emotional, psychosocial and spiritual well-being of every patient and family we serve.

1995

Vision for Hospice Klang is conceived, with the aim of providing compassionate palliative care to the Klang community.

1996

Official registration as a charitable NGO and commencement of medical services, with a small team of doctors, nurses, and volunteers making home visits.

1998

Installation and official opening of our first cabin at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR), Klang.

2000

Expansion of volunteer network and community outreach, increasing awareness of palliative care in Klang.

2005

Opening of our dedicated centre at Sri Andalas, expanding services and outreach.

2010

Strengthening of medical services, volunteer and equipment loan programmes to better support patients and families.

2018

Official opening of the Kota Bayu Emas facility, marking another step forward in our mission to serve more patients and families.

2020

Continued operations during the COVID‑19 pandemic, adapting care delivery to ensure patient safety while maintaining compassion and connection.

Today

Hospice Klang remains a trusted name in palliative care, offering all services free‑of‑charge and guided by the belief: "If we cannot add days to life, we can add life to days."

All our services and facilities are provided at no cost to those we serve.

Our Objective

To deliver free palliative medical care to patients in Klang and surrounding communities, enhancing quality of life through compassionate, holistic support.

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines palliative care as:
“An approach that improves the quality of life of patients (adults and children) and their families who are facing problems associated with life-threatening illness. It prevents and relieves suffering through early identification, correct assessment, and treatment of pain and other problems — physical, psychosocial, and spiritual.”
